①not because...but because...意思是“不是因为...而是因为...”，如I did it not because I liked itbut because I had to do it.我做(这事)不是因为我喜欢它，而是因为我必须做。
②too...to...意思是“太...而不能...”，如No detail was too small to escape her attention.再小的细节都逃不过她的眼睛。

They didn't want to depend on theirparents. Someday, they hope to have a council house, but for now they have to have patience.
